Capturing the Magic - Aligning Quality & Safety with Patient Experience
The Society for Pediatric Sedation welcomes you to the Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida where the magic happens and dreams do come true! Befitting this location, our conference theme puts a spotlight on the patient and family experience while also focusing on sedation outcomes. Our expert faculty draw from their experiences interacting with children and their families in the hospital environment, educational venues and successful businesses. The topics range from ensuring quality and safety during procedural sedation, providing patient-centric care and harnessing web-based technology to educate patients and their families. The conference is divided into 4 half-day sessions, each with a primary theme informing the plenary lectures and breakout sessions: safety, efficiency, show, and courteous customer service.
Monday morning opens with plenary sessions focused on safety, showcasing Dr. Suresh, Chair of the Smart Tots Steering Committee discussing current state of knowledge of medication safety and Drs. Buckmaster, Coulores and Kamat’s panel presentation on patient screening and risk stratification.
Monday afternoon heralds the return of Dr. George Blike, founding member of the SPS, speaking on the relative contributions of value and efficiency in sedation systems. The following presentation by expert SIM-educators Karen Kelly and Dr. Tensing Maa evaluates the role of simulation-based education in risk-mitigation during procedural sedation.
Tuesday morning features the novel innovation of successful health-care companies including Florida Hospital for Children. These industry leaders and expert clinicians will share their lessons learned and keys to successful implementation of cutting-edge technology.
The conference concludes with exciting and informative sessions on Wednesday morning highlighting examples from several institutions providing exemplary customer service.
We hope that you are excited to participate in this collaboration between the Society for Pediatric Sedation and Florida Hospital for Children to provide the most up to date scientific information regarding procedural sedation in children and the most innovative approaches to patient and family experience and satisfaction!
