Welcome to the 2016 SPS Annual Conference
Revolutionizing Approaches to Pediatric Procedural Pain and Sedation
As the Society’s 11th meeting, the 2016 Annual Conference will kick off a new decade with a new focus, new speakers and a new format including exciting new workshops and breakout sessions. Internationally renowned specialists in pediatric pain medicine Dr. Jill Chorney, Dr. Neil Schecter, Dr. Renee Manworren and Dr. Bill Zempsky will be featured lecturers.
Monday lectures focus on practice issues including a parent panel, managing pre-procedural anxiety, approaching the behaviorally challenging child, introduction to pain management and topical anesthetics.
Tuesday lectures focus on program issues such as adding guided imagery, linking with anesthesia, nursing wellness treating pain around the world and in your hospital. Optional workshops include ONE VOICE©, Advanced Airway, and Integrative Medicine. There will also be a guided bus tour on the history of nitrous oxide.
Breakout sessions on a multitude of pediatric sedation and pain management topics are offered on Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday’s lectures address business issues such as risk management for procedural sedation, building a sedation service from vision to billing, including coding and business planning.
An SPS Sedation Provider Course© is planned for Sunday, May 15 at Hartford Hospital’s Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation. Participation is limited for students, so sign up early!
The conference promises to offer great fun, great food, and an excellent opportunity for networking with other pediatric sedation and pain management professionals. Plus Hartford in May is spectacular! It marks the opening season for the Hartford Yard Goats baseball team.
